The Name: Wellbred
When I create a name for a product I try to capture the feeling of the product. Wellbred was found when I was rummaging through a thesaurus. I was trying to find a word that elicited elegance but wasn't in your face about it. Wellbred seemed fitting because this would be a well put together product that wasn't made cheaply or by cutting corners. It would be full quality.
The Process:
This soap would find itself on the counter of an upper middle class household, or that of a household that wanted to be upper middle class. The packaging is meant to exude elegance and class. It is as much of a piece of decor as it is a soap dispenser.
To focus on that, a key part of the design was to have rich foliage. Deep and rich greens with gold outline overlays was my first idea, but as the design evolved the less gold added to the elegance while the gold overlay at times looked kitchy. The strength of this design is the base photo of leaves and greenery. If the base image didn't have the dark elegant colors, the project would have a completely different feel to it.
